Book Sleeves

A small selection of the book covers I’ve designed and illustrated over the years for long term publishing clients. Work on a cover usually starts with research and concepts, followed by art direction/design/illustration, through to preparing the final cover for specialised print production.

“Scatterlings” by Rešoketšwe Manenzhe was the overall winner of five local fiction awards and received a stellar review from The New York Times in 2022. It has been published in several countries. The swan on my book cover design for Jacana Media represents the main character in the book and their character arc.

First published in 2017, the year of the 40th anniversary of Steve Biko’s murder by the apartheid regime, The Black Consciousness Reader has been revised and updated as an essential collection of history, interviews and opinions about the philosophy.
